The French government officially announced the venue for the international ceremony on 17 October.
The ceremony will take place on 6 June 2024 at Saint-Laurent-sur-Mer, in the American sector, near Omaha Beach, where 2,500 American soldiers lost their lives.
The ceremony will provide an opportunity to commemorate the 80th anniversary of the D-Day Landings and the Battle of Normandy, in the presence of numerous heads of state and representatives of the belligerent nations.
In 2014, for the 70th anniversary of D-Day, heads of state from 17 nations attended the international ceremony at Sword Beach.
