D-Day needed to happen, it was long time in planning, many people lost their lives from all the forces in UK and allied forces and even German troops and civilians in the localities of the landings. My Dad was in the Royal Navy during the entire second world war, he did not share many memories, as did not my uncle, who also served in the Royal navy. It must have been tough, and we need to remember all those who were not as lucky as my Dad and Uncle to survive the war, so let us remember in our prayers and thoughts of departed loved ones, and keep their memories alive this D-day 80 years on.
